Jason Achilles’ music career materialized attending De Anza College and UC Berkeley, following egregious final marks in high school that led to being thrown out of a previous college before he even got there. During this inspired period his first two orchestral works were composed (on paper), finding their voice years later through overseas recordings in Budapest and Prague, and in 2024 live performance at NYC’s famed Carnegie Hall.

Relocating to carve a unique path through the storied LA soundscape, Achilles developed an experimental rock multi-instrumentalist approach and released his critically acclaimed debut Comedown LP. In 2021 he leveraged audio expertise and enthusiasm into a technical consultancy with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, capturing the first sounds of Mars as recorded by the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover. In 2025 Achilles has been traveling presenting a live touring planetarium show “Rovers, Rockets, and Rock ‘n Roll” that seeks to inspire the public through his unlikely personal journey from music to Space.

Jason Achilles has notably worked with and performed alongside Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Dizzy Reed (Guns n. Roses), Scott Page (Pink Floyd), Robby Krieger (The Doors), Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard), Steve Stevens and Geezer Butler; even the legendary Doug Kershaw “The Ragin’ Cajun” amongst many. He currently tours with electronic artist Dr. Chrispy and drummer Kevin Kapler performing special space-related engagements, including Yuri’s Night and Queen guitarist Brian May’s STARMUS festival.

When not on tour, in the studio, or buried in space development, he can be spotted with friends attempting to capture high-fidelity audio / video from numerous rocket launches around the country (and trying desperately not to have their microphones incinerated).
